Abstract

This research is a qualitative research that examines the text as well as the context or implementation of the teachings contained in the Gheraṇḍa Saṁhitā which is one of the main texts in learning yoga. The study of this text is important considering that yoga has become very popular in this century, but in its very practical form, it often forgets to study sources of knowledge in the form of the original text. By applying the Hermeneutic theory, the structural functional theory of the AGIL scheme and the theory of perception in examining the text and context, while the analysis is carried out using the verstehen method or understanding method. The results of the study indicate that the Gerandha Samhita book states that there are seven principles of yoga practice that must be practiced by practitioners / aspirin yoga, in order to achieve self-realization, including: (1) shatkarma, (2) asanas, (3) mudras, (4) pratyahara, (5) pranayama, (6) dhyana and (7) samādhi. Of the 7 (seven) forms of yoga exercises mentioned in the Gerandha Samhita text, they are classified as physical exercises such as shatkarma, asana, mudra and pranayama. All of these processes belong to Hatha Yoga. Through the practice of Hatha Yoga Gheraṇḍa Saṁhitā as the development of self-spirituality, namely knowing the secrets of the body as an evolutionary process in achieving the goal of moral, physical, mental and spiritual transformation.

Abstract

The method of learning philosophy is an important key in understanding the tree of knowledge of Indian philosophy. This method has been explored by sages and writers since classical times as an integral part of the discussion of darśana. However, this method does not seem to have been adopted in learning Hindu philosophy in Indonesia. This research is a text study that discusses the Hindu philosophy learning method described by Hindu philosophers and thinkers as a learning tool. Data obtained through literature study by examining several classical Indian philosophical texts, data analysis using Content Analysis. An important finding of this research is that the methodology of learning Hindu philosophy must begin by studying the three starting-points known as praṣṭana-trayā namely the upaniṣads, Bhagavad-gitā and the sūtra texts. Starting from the three starting-points of Vedānta (three starting-points of Vedānta) as praṣṭana-trayā namely upaniṣad, Bhagavad-gitā and Brahmā-Sūtra. In Vedanta it is called the triple cannon of Vedānta. Without following this procedure, failure will overshadow the students of philosophy. Therefore, learning praṣṭana-trayā is the starting point in an effort to understand the scientific tree of Hindu philosophy. These three starting points for learning philosophy should be adopted properly in order to improve thinking skills, reasoning skills, including improving writing, debate, argumentation and discussion skills.

Abstract

The rise of religious and cultural intolerance, conflict between and among religious adherents, and even the nation's disintegration have given rise to a national program to strengthen religious moderation. Aims to examine and describe the culture of moderation in planning to strengthen religious moderation, describe the approach to the culture of moderation in program implementation, and analyze the monitoring and evaluation of program implementation carried out by the Hindu Community Guidance Sector work unit of West Nusa Tenggara Province. To answer these three objectives, 3 (three) theories are used: contingency approach, systems theory, and Anthony Giddens' structuration theory. This study uses a qualitative phenomenological paradigm. Technique for determining informants purposively with criteria, as participants, committee, planner, and person in charge. It can be concluded: 1) cultivating moderation in the planning of the program to strengthen religious moderation in the work unit of the Hindu Guidance Division of West Nusa Tenggara Province, targeting the strengthening of the Pancasila ideology in the nation and state and strengthening Hindu values that are inspired by religious moderation; 2) the implementation approach cultivates moderation, not yet innovative. The participants involved were still homogeneous. The program's target is still limited to understanding tolerance and not yet formulating a model of tolerance for a multicultural society; 3) monitoring and evaluating the cultivation of moderation in the Hindu Guidance Sector of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion of NTB Province using the Formative Summative Evaluation Model. It can be recommended: 1) the proposed program is expected to be more innovative, 2) religious moderation agencies (subjects) should involve a lot of leadership elements at the spearhead (close to the community), and be heterogeneous.

Abstract

This research presents a comprehensive analysis of the recognition of ancestral religion in Indonesia, focusing on the challenges and efforts of its adherents to attain official status. The research background involves the legal context of Indonesia, where the 1945 Constitution guarantees religious freedom. However, followers of ancestral religion continue to face stigmatization and legal uncertainty, necessitating this study. The research aims to identify the struggles of ancestral religion adherents, exploring their impacts on social, economic, and identity aspects. Literature and metadata study methods were employed to delve into the challenges faced by these adherents and their efforts to gain recognition, leading to crucial steps such as policy recommendations, community education, and interfaith collaboration to aid ancestral religion followers against discriminatory actions. The research findings depict various negative impacts of the non-recognition of ancestral religion, including difficulties in securing employment and issues related to identity document fulfillment. The efforts of ancestral religion adherents to gain recognition are analyzed in the context of policy recommendations that can improve the existing legal framework. The study's conclusion highlights the urgency of equal recognition for ancestral religion adherents, emphasizing the need for legal and policy reforms to create an inclusive environment. Involving all stakeholders, including the government, religious leaders, and civil society, this research is expected to contribute significantly to the discourse on religious freedom in Indonesia.
